Terms
Erg3D is a desktop game (Windows, macOS). It connects to indoor ergometers, currently the Concept2 RowErg via PM5 Bluetooth, and drops you into 3D worlds to row through. There's an optional cloud account for syncing workouts and racing other people.
These terms cover the desktop app, the optional account, and the marketing site at erg3d.com. By using any of those, you're agreeing to what's below.
Your account
You can use the desktop app without an account. If you make one:
- You need to be 13 or older (16 in the EU). One account per person.
- Keep your password and any sign-in tokens to yourself. If someone gets in, that's on you. Tell us fast and we'll lock the account.
- We can suspend or delete an account if it's used to abuse the service, evade leaderboard fairness, or break these terms in a way we can't ignore. We'll tell you why if we do.
Acceptable use
Don't:
- Reverse-engineer the BLE protocol layer to spoof ergometer data, fake stroke counts, or game leaderboards.
- Run bots, scrapers, or automated clients against the auth or sync APIs.
- Try to break in. Penetration testing requires written permission first: [email protected].
- Use the service to harass other players once multiplayer ships.
If you find a real security bug, tell us. We won't sue you for trying to keep us honest.
Your data, our license, your license
Your workouts and your settings are yours. You don't have to upload anything. If you do enable cloud sync, you grant us a non-exclusive licence to store, copy, and display that data for the limited purpose of running the service for you (showing you your history, syncing across your devices, listing you on a leaderboard you opted into). The licence ends when you delete the data or the account.
The Erg3D software itself, code, art, sounds, 3D worlds, stays ours. You're licensed to use it, not to redistribute it, sell it, or rip the assets.
Hardware
Erg3D is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Concept2, Inc. "RowErg," "SkiErg," "BikeErg," and "PM5" are Concept2's trademarks; we use them to say which hardware is supported, nothing more.
Indoor rowing is a workout. Don't push past your limits, especially if you have a heart condition or are returning from injury. Talk to a doctor first. We don't know your medical history; you do.
If your erg breaks while you use it with Erg3D, that's between you and Concept2. Erg3D doesn't drive the flywheel; your legs do.
Self-assessment tests
The in-app self-assessment estimates your Threshold Power (the sustainable 30-minute power) from your warm-up data. It is an estimate, not medical advice. Stop any test if you feel unwell — the persistent stop button on every test screen does exactly that and never penalises you. If you have a heart condition, are returning from injury, or are unsure whether vigorous exercise is right for you today, talk to a clinician before pushing into a harder test.
Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided "as is." Stuff will break sometimes; we'll fix it as fast as we can, but we don't promise zero downtime, perfect leaderboard accuracy, or that every BLE adapter on earth will work.
To the maximum extent the law allows, our total liability to you for anything related to Erg3D is capped at whatever you've paid us in the past 12 months. Today that's €0. Erg3D is free during beta. Even when paid tiers ship, the cap is the cap. We're not on the hook for indirect, consequential, or "I missed my 2K PR because the server hiccuped" damages.
Some jurisdictions don't allow these limits. If yours doesn't, the law's floor applies and the rest stands.
Changes, termination, governing law
We may change these terms. Material changes get an email to account holders before they kick in. Continuing to use the service after the change date means you accept the new terms; if you don't, delete your account.
You can delete your account any time. We can terminate it for the reasons in Your account above.
These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes that can't be sorted out by email go to the competent courts of Lisbon, Portugal. If you're a consumer in the EU, nothing here removes the consumer-protection rights your home country gives you.
